I am pleased to welcome you to the National Biosafety and Biocontainment Training Program website. As you explore these pages, you will learn about our program and the training that has launched new career opportunities in safety, science, and biomedical research for more than 10 years.
The NBBTP has successfully trained fellows for over a decade to meet our Nation’s numerous challenges in biodefense research and emerging infectious disease response capabilities. There continues to be a demand for well-trained biosafety professionals to assist the research community with risk assessments on planned research, as well as potential biological threats. The NBBTP has been, and continues to be, at the forefront of training individuals to meet this demand.
NBBTP alumni serve in diverse roles such as biosafety officers and responsible officials for select agent research as well as international biosafety consultants and policy advocates. During this multi-faceted and rigorous program, NBBTP Fellows have opportunities to advance occupational safety and health as well as biosafety principles through applied biosafety research projects. If selected, you can expect to finish the program with a strong skill set and expert knowledge of biological safety principles and practices, enabling you to face the challenges unique to 21st century biomedical research.
I encourage you to explore our website and learn more about this fulfilling, worthwhile program and career path. The challenges are many, the science is ground-breaking, and the reward of helping to protect the nations’ health is gratifying.
Welcome and good luck!
