 Biosafety and Biocontainment Training for BSL-3 Laboratory Workers

The National Biosafety and Biocontainment Training Program and Kent State University are offering a 4.5 day series of courses in Biosafety and Biocontainment for BSL-3 Laboratory Workers. These courses are designed for biosafety professionals, researchers and laboratorians to enhance individual knowledge and meet the scientific, regulatory, biocontainment, biosafety, and engineering challenges associated with the working in a biocontainment facility. Daily topics will include:
- Introduction to microbiology and biosafety
- Principles of biosafety and biocontainment
- The biological risk assessment process
- Laboratory sterilization and disinfection
- Emergency planning and response
- Laboratory regulations, standards and guidelines
- Biocontainment laboratory security
- Hands on sessions using laboratory equipment
A detailed schedule will be available at www.nbbtp.org. NBBTP is authorized by IACET to offer 3.6 CEUs. Participants will be required to score a minimum of 70% on each post-course knowledge assessment in order to receive CEUs.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION
We request registration by October 8, 2010, after which participants will be admitted if space is available. Course requires a minimum of 10 participants. Register for the courses through NBBTP using the form below.
- Course Tuition: Discounted tuition of $2300 is available for those registering by September 7. After September 7, tuition is $2500.00 for the 4.5 day course. Further discounts are available for multiple registrations. Contact info@frontlinefoundation.org for more information. Course may be rescheduled if minimum number of registrations is not received by October 8. Registrants will be notified on October 11 should this be the case.
- Course Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. – noon
Lodging at several national chain hotels is available in or near Kent. These two Holiday Inn Express hotels will be serviced by the Kent State shuttle. Ask for the Kent State rate.
